CIVIL RIGHTS & JUSTICE
181 In Debt We Trust - America Before the Bubble Bursts 1 hr 15 min
....................................................................................................................................
IN DEBT WE TRUST is the latest film from Danny Schechter, "The News Dissector," director of the internationally distributed and award-winning WMD (Weapons of Mass Deception), an expose of the media's role in the Iraq War. The Emmy-winning former ABC News and CNN producer's new hard-hitting documentary investigates why so many Americans are being strangled by debt. It is a journalistic confrontation with what former Reagan advisor Kevin Phillips calls "Financialization"--the "powerful emergence of a debt-and-credit industrial complex."
34 Unconstitutional : The War on Our Civil Liberties
................................................................
A painful look back at the behavior of the government in the days after Sept 11.
1 Dr.Michael Parenti: Terrorism, Globalism and Conspiracy 1 hr
............................................................................................................................
Dr. Parenti is able to explain why capitalism is not the great thing it's chalked up to be. And he does it in under 2 minutes. One of our favorite Parenti lectures. Enjoyable, smart and important.
62 US Human Rights Violations since 9-11 Ann Fagan Ginger
................................................................................................................................................
Ann Fagan Ginger, Constitutional Lawyer, Human Rights Attorney, in an intriguing interview on how US policies and actions since 9-11 violate US and International laws that prohibit torture and safeguard Human Rights.
66 No Greater Threat: America After September 11
..............................................................................................................................
C. William Michaels divulges greater details about the Patriot Act. Very informative and very frightening. (Why is it that the more we find out about ANYthing the worse things look?) Excellent lecture at a CT University.
85 General Benton Partin : US State Terrorism
......................................................................................................
From Flight 800, to Waco, to OKC he knew the official stories were not true. He knew why. He's a technical expert with 31 years experience working for the military in weapons R&D. With 2 engineering degrees General Partin gives a no nonsense briefing with technical facts and photographs the public didn't get to see and which leaves no doubt in mind that we've all been lied to in the worst possible way. State terrorism is not only real, it's the only terrorism going in the USA. He also reveals some very interesting situations the public is oblivious to, and lends his personal philosophies about being American in small enjoyable bites. It is unfortunate that there is some bashing of the "left" and near the end too much mention of religious subject matter as we don't see either as helpful or necessary in getting the truth to everyone regardless of personal ideology. The very beginning of the lecture is a very short introduction by a religious dude, don't worry it's over with real quick. Don't let it dissuade you from listening to this man's presentation. It's quite amazing right from the start.
61 Torture Inc. America's Brutal Prisons
...................................................................................................
The scandalous treatment of prisoners offshore may be a lot like business as usual right here at home. Is prison is a place for violent offenders, or a place to be violently offended? This broken system must be addressed, but first it must be exposed. Thank goodness for the BBC; we'd never know about it otherwise. Original air date May 2005.
86 Prisoners of Katrina
...............................................................
Once again we need the BBC to expose us to ourselves. When Ray Nagin ordered the city to evacuate, people scrambled to get out of town. We know the ones who didn't have the ability to leave were left to fend for themselves. This version of 21st century gov't sees no reason to help the sick or poor, or the democrats; their lives apparently have no value to them. If the law abiding poor aren't worth saving, what about the 7,000 souls in jail? The most basic humanity would have bussed prisoners out of harms way, but there was no basic humanity. They were left to slowly drown in rising waters, without food or water, and were locked in overcrowded cells, by conscious decision. The elected sheriff made that call and in the midst of the disaster was no where to be found. He was awol while people drowned and endured the nightmarish threat of slow death by drowning and starvation. It is clear that there is such a thing as a male whore as is evidenced by this mans's bald face lies about being on hand during the catastrophe and how not one life was lost. In fact, he showed up only once with a camera man, to make a clip for his re-election campaign. He was re-elected. This is a tale of system failure, and of simple people who's lives were rendered n/a by politicians. You should know about it.
55 COINTELPRO: The FBI's War on Black America
..............................................................................
A look at the 60's when prominent African-Americans were singled out and murdered. Another sickening example of covert ops and the racism so deeply embedded in government. I'm afraid little has changed. Citizen leaders are equally detested by government regardless of race, creed or color. Face it, this government does NOT support democracy and instead does everything in it's power to squelch it.
137 American Blackout 33 min
.....................................................................................................
A closer look at the disgusting facts of recent elections denying black Americans their vote. The film unfortunately seems to cut off prematurely, but not until after it's elucidated it's viewers a good bit.
109 War on Drugs is a BIG Federal Business
..............................................................................................................
Drug enforcement activities have become more harmful than we can afford. Barbaric laws throw tens of thousands of non-violent people into Federal prisons every year. Terms lasting decades are normal for simple possession of tiny amounts of drugs, and also for simply knowing a small time dealer but having no involvement in illegal activity of any kind. 2.5 million children are growing up in state run homes while parents do 25 years without having committed any crime and while violent rapists get less than 5 years. The injustice of property seizure based on literally no evidence or reason for suspicion has made Drug Enforcement a very rich business, and private prisons a growth industry that is a highly recommended stock investment. In short, it is not a war on drugs, but a war on poor people. The exponential growth of Americans in prison is shocking and disturbing and the fact is that now the United States puts more people behind bars than any other nation on earth. Something is terribly, seriously wrong.
63 Frank Wilkinson on the FBI
.....................................................................................
Interview with Frank Wilkinson, Executive Director of the First Amendment Foundation. Classified as a national security risk by the FBI, they kept files on him for 50 years. What did he do? He worked against oppressive legislation to keep the 1st Amendment strong, and in the struggle for racial equality. He never broke a single law. Yeah, that's dangerous stuff.
110 How to Avoid being Arrested by Cops
..............................................................................................
Do you know anything at all about your rights if you're pulled over by a cop? Should you consent to your car or home being searched without a warrant? Is it smart to believe that cops will help you if you forfeit your legal rights? If you've never given such things any thought maybe you ought to. Got 45 minutes to make yourself a smarter citizen?
115 Indictment: Inside the Oklahoma City Grand Jury,
The Hoppy Heidelberg Story
.............................................................................................................................................................
Being called to the Grand Jury is a citizen's chance to stand up to power and make sure that the government is not pulling a dirty prosecution on someone. Grand Jurors actually have some power. They won't tell you that when you show up of course, they want you to be obedient and just help them indict and not ask questions. In fact that's what they usually get and it's definitely what they wanted for the trial of the Oklahoma City bomber. Unfortunately for them one of the jurors read his handbook, and started to act like he was there to do what it described: ask questions, call for evidence, and request witnesses. The prosecution hated that, and tried every sneaky trick and outright lie they could come up with to deny him everything he asked for because giving it to him would likely have led directly to the obvious fact that the official story was a crock. Sound familiar? In the end the Judge removed Mr. Heidelburg from the Grand Jury which raised a fairly decent stink. This is the story.
116 L.A. Law Man Seminar: Martin J. "Red" Beckman
....................................................................................................................................................................
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to take a high school class in the 1950's, (or if you'd like a true 50's flash back) then partake of this cute old dude. He gives a full spectrum lesson on how to handle yourself with politicians, judges, the IRS and especially the Grand Jury. You will have some real comprehension and leave a whole lot smarter than when you came. There's absolutely no exciting special effects, his props are a lecture pad and his own handwriting, but the message is one you can take to the bank. After seeing this, watching #115 will be extra interesting, you'll be able to understand it like an insider.
101 Erwin Chemerinsky : Executive Power
and the War on Terror
.......................................................................................................
Nationally renowned legal scholar Erwin Chemerinsky discusses executive power and the war on terror at the UC Davis School of Law. While some scholars have defended the Bush administrations claim to broad executive authority as part of the war on terrorism, Chemerinsky believes those claims are wrong in terms of the history and functions of the Constitution and separation of powers. This should scare anyone who can read the plain english the constitution is written in, as the people in Washington DC have eliminated our freedoms entirely.
